The Point Vision Walk is one of the most rewarding and arguably least-travelled bushwalks in Narawntapu National Park. This full-day bushwalk takes experienced walkers through coastal heath, native bushland and remote shoreline before reaching Point Vision, where sweeping views over Bass Strait await. If you’re looking for a quieter alternative to the popular Archers Knob Walk, Point Vision offers solitude, abundant wildlife and some of the best coastal scenery in northern Tasmania.
Location: Narawntapu National Park, Tasmania
Distance: Approximately 15 km return
Time: 5–7 hours
Difficulty: Grade 4 – Difficult
Elevation: Mostly gentle terrain with some undulating sections
Track Surface: Formed bush tracks, coastal heath, sandy sections and natural walking trails
Best Time: Spring through Autumn or on calm, clear winter days
The Point Vision Walk follows a well-marked but relatively remote track through a variety of landscapes including coastal heathlands, dry eucalypt forest and low scrub before reaching the rugged coastline.
The track is longer than many of the park’s other walks and includes uneven ground, sandy sections and exposed coastal areas. While there are no particularly steep climbs, the distance makes this a challenging full-day adventure.
The walk includes:
The Point Vision Walk is classified as a Grade 4 bushwalk and is recommended for experienced walkers with a reasonable level of fitness.
The primary challenge is the distance rather than steep climbing. Walkers should carry sufficient drinking water, food, weather protection and allow plenty of time to complete the return journey.
Outstanding Coastal Views
The highlight of the walk is reaching Point Vision, where uninterrupted views extend across Bass Strait and the rugged northern coastline of Tasmania.
On clear days you’ll enjoy spectacular coastal scenery and a real sense of wilderness.
Incredible Wildlife
Narawntapu National Park is famous for its abundance of native wildlife.
Early morning and late afternoon provide the best opportunities for wildlife photography.
Coastal Heath and Wildflowers
During spring, the track comes alive with colourful wildflowers and flowering coastal shrubs, making this one of the most picturesque times to visit.
Remote Wilderness Experience
Unlike some of Tasmania’s more popular walking tracks, Point Vision often feels wonderfully isolated, allowing visitors to experience the peaceful natural beauty of Narawntapu National Park.
The Point Vision Walk begins from the Springlawn area within Narawntapu National Park, approximately 30 minutes east of Devonport.
Parking, toilets, picnic facilities and visitor information are available at the Springlawn Visitor Centre before commencing your walk.
If you’re seeking a longer bushwalk away from the crowds, Point Vision delivers one of the finest wilderness experiences in Narawntapu National Park. Its combination of coastal scenery, abundant wildlife, colourful heathlands and panoramic ocean views makes it a favourite among experienced bushwalkers.
Whether you’re camping in the national park or exploring Tasmania’s north coast, the Point Vision Walk is an unforgettable adventure for those prepared for a rewarding full-day hike.
