The Archers Knob Bushwalk is one of the highlights of Narawntapu National Park on Tasmania’s beautiful north coast. Combining peaceful wetlands, native wildlife, coastal forest, pristine beaches and spectacular panoramic views, this walk offers a little of everything.
Whether you’re visiting Narawntapu for a day trip or staying at Springlawn Campground, Archers Knob is one of the park’s most rewarding walks.
Location: Narawntapu National Park, Tasmania
Distance: 9 km circuit (or approximately 7 km return to the lookout)
Time: 2–2.5 hours return or 3–3.5 hours for the full circuit
Difficulty: Grade 2 – Easy to Moderate
Elevation: Approximately 114 metres
Track Surface: Boardwalk, gravel paths, bush track and beach sand
Best Time: Spring through Autumn, although enjoyable year-round.
The walk begins near the Narawntapu Visitor Centre and follows an easy boardwalk through paperbark wetlands before reaching the Springlawn Bird Hide. From there the track climbs gently via a zigzag walking trail to the summit of Archers Knob.
If completing the full circuit, the return journey passes along Bakers Beach before following coastal heath and forest tracks back to Springlawn.

Archers Knob is classified as a Grade 2 walk, making it suitable for families, casual bushwalkers and visitors looking for a rewarding half-day adventure.
The climb is steady rather than steep and the track is well maintained throughout. Comfortable walking shoes, drinking water and sun protection are recommended.

Springlawn Bird Hide
The boardwalk passes through tranquil wetlands to the Springlawn Bird Hide, one of the park’s best birdwatching locations.
Bakers Beach
If completing the full circuit, you’ll enjoy the spectacular expanse of Bakers Beach before returning through coastal bushland.
The walk starts from the Visitor Centre at Springlawn within Narawntapu National Park, around 30 minutes east of Devonport.
The trailhead offers parking, picnic facilities, toilets and visitor information.
