Narawntapu National Park is one of Tasmania’s most underrated bushwalking destinations. Located on the state’s north coast between Devonport and Launceston, the park is renowned for its abundant wildlife, long sandy beaches, wetlands, coastal heathlands and spectacular views across Bass Strait. The Bird Hide Walk is the park’s easiest and most popular short stroll. Beginning near the Visitor Centre at Springlawn, the track follows a raised boardwalk through paperbark forest and wetlands before reaching a purpose-built bird hide overlooking lagoons.
This walk is perfect for families, photographers and birdwatchers. Keep an eye out for black swans, ducks, egrets, herons and numerous migratory birds that visit throughout the year.
