Description

Ralph Falls – Mount Victoria Forest Reserve

Tasmania’s Highest Single-Drop Waterfall

Plunging approximately 90 metres over a sheer cliff in one uninterrupted cascade, Ralph Falls is recognised as Tasmania’s highest single-drop waterfall. One of Tasmania’s official 60 Great Short Walks, the track passes through cool myrtle rainforest before emerging into broadleaf scrub and buttongrass moorland, where purpose-built lookouts provide spectacular views of both the waterfall and the impressive Cashs Gorge.

After decades of community effort to make the falls accessible, this short walk now offers one of North East Tasmania’s finest waterfall experiences with surprisingly diverse scenery along the way.

Walk Highlights

Ralph Falls

View Tasmania’s tallest single-drop waterfall plunging approximately 90 metres into the gorge below from a purpose-built viewing platform.

Cashs Gorge Lookout

The longer circuit includes a second lookout overlooking the rugged gorge and surrounding farmland, providing a very different perspective to the waterfall lookout.

Changing Forest Landscapes

Experience an impressive transition from cool temperate rainforest through tea-tree forest to buttongrass moorland, showcasing the diversity of North East Tasmania’s forests.

Top Tip: Allow time to complete the full Cashs Gorge circuit. The additional walk is well worth the effort for the extra lookout and beautiful moss-covered forest sections.
